About Us

Sacred Heart Hospital is a 250 bedded health care provider located at Kandasamypuram, Thoothukudi, committed to a higher objective of delivering ultimate quality of health care with utmost excellence and personal care. Sacred Heart Hospital has a vast pool of talented and experienced team of doctors, who are further supported by a team of highly qualified, experienced & dedicated support staff & cutting edge technology. More than 50 consultants and 230 employees work together to manage our patients. The Hospital has an infrastructure comprising of around 250 beds including about 36 ICU beds, 4 Operation Theatres and dialysis unit.

Our History

Sacred Heart Hospital, Tuticorin was started in 1960 as a small dispensary by sisters of St. Ann’s Luzern. In the year 1961 a small hospital was built to accommodate and take care of the mothers and children. As there was steady flow of the patients, there was a felt need for a large hospital. The Hospital was blessed on 10th December 1971 by Bishop Ambrose of Tuticorin Diocese and the new hospital with 150 beds was declared open on 13th December 1971 by Mr. Anbazhagan M.A The Minister for health of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Sacred Heart Hospital is a full –fledged general hospital with 250 beds and all of the departments associated with a hospital of its genre. It provides high quality health care to meet the medical needs of the people without distinction of caste, creed or socioeconomic status.

College Of Nursing

Recognizing the importance of having adequately trained nurses to provide efficient health care, School of Nursing was started in 1974 and college of Nursing in 2010 to give Nursing and Midwifery and Bachelor of science degree. The Hospital provided with all the facilities for the over all department of the Nursing Students. Our students have brought cent percentage success in the Government Examination. The success and achievements of our hospital was due to the untiring united and harmonious effort of our staff under the able guidance of Mother Elizabeth Affentranger and Sr. Paula Graff.
